Biography
2024-2025: During the 2025 indoor season, Drew Klein posted standout performances: he cleared 4.95 m (16 ft 2¾ in) in the pole vault at the UW Invitational, equaling his own best mark. At the 2025 GNAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, he successfully defended his pole-vault title with a vault of 4.65 m (15 ft 3 in). Additionally, he competed in the heptathlon at the season opener (UW Invitational) and scored 5,198 points, which placed him ninth nationally among Division II competitors at that time. Drew redshirted his outdoor season.
2023-2024: In his junior campaign, Drew continued to grow as a multi-event competitor. He captured the decathlon title at the GNAC Outdoor Multi-Event Championships with 6,709 points, winning four of the ten events including the 100 m (11.17 s), long jump (6.96 m), pole vault (4.73 m) and discus (35.58 m). On the pole vault side, he surpassed the 4.80 m barrier and became one of the top horizontal and vertical jumpers on the team. Drew qualified for the NCAA DII indoor national championships and scored 4,907 points in the heptathlon ath the championship meet.
2022-2023: In his sophomore year, Klein made a significant leap as a multi-event athlete, showing marked improvement both in his vaulting and all-around event scores. He posted a season best of 15'-1¾" (˜ 4.61 m) in the pole vault at the conference outdoors, finishing 2nd at the GNAC Outdoor Championships. In combined events, he scored 6,538 points to finish 3rd at the GNAC Combined Events Championships, placing him 7th all-time in the program’s history at that point. At that same decathlon meet, Klein posted top-3 finishes in several events: for example, he ran the 100 m in 11.46 s (2nd place) and threw the discus 122'-2" (˜ 37.24 m) (also a PR) as part of that 6,538-point total.
2021-2022: Drew Klein entered Central Washington University with strong all-around ability, already showing promise in the pole vault and multi-events. Early in his college career, he vaulted 4.81 m (˜15' 9") at the Wildcat Invitational — one of his best marks in the freshman year. He also posted solid times in his sprint/hurdle events, helping build the foundation for his multi-event success at Central Washington University.
Background: Drew Klein joins Central Washington from Federal Way High School. During the 2021 season, Drew competed as a decathlete. He placed 2nd in the Washington State Combined Events championship while setting a new PR of 13'9.25" in the pole vault. Drew plans to study Physical Education & School Health as well as Firefighting.
