The Wildcat Club
The Wildcat Club is the annual fundraising program for Central Washington University’s Wildcat Athletics. Its purpose is to promote and foster the growth and development of student-athletes. Tax-deductible gifts to the Wildcat Club play a pivotal role in meeting the escalating costs of student-athlete scholarships and academic support. Private support is vital for Central to remain among the top athletic programs in the country.

WHY SCHOLARSHIPS?
SCHOLARSHIPS PROVIDE NATIONAL PROMINENCE
Sportsman of the Year: In 2008, student-athletes Mallory Holtman and Liz Wallace received national notoriety of unprecedented proportions. Never before has the University benefited from such acclaim and recognition! Mallory and Liz engaged in an act of true sportsmanship during a CWU softball game, and that act was reported on media outlets ranging from the New York Times and USA Today to CBS, CNN and the Ellen DeGeneres Show. Mallory and Liz garnered publicity for CWU throughout the summer of 2008, which culminated in Mallory receiving the NCAA Sportsman of the Year award.
Individual Success (Quoting Holtman): "I love it at Central! These have been the best four years of my life. And the whole reason I came to Ellensburg as a freshman was because Central offered me a better scholarship package than did other schools. The thing about scholarships is they're not just supporting athletics, they're supporting the future. I know several people who wouldn't be in school at all, let alone playing sports, if it wasn't for a scholarship. These athletic scholarships really do open the door to the future for so many students. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else."
DESCRIPTION OF THE 2009 FUND DRIVE
The 2009 Scholarship Fund Drive was a great success! More than 300 individuals and corporations joined the Wildcat Club and the Athletic Department received in excess of $325,000 in cash and gifts!
The 2010 campaign will continue to be conducted under the direction and guidance of the Athletic Department and the CWU Wildcat Club.
The Wildcat Club is a group of dedicated people who have committed themselves to support CWU athletics. The Wildcat Club recognizes the value of a successful athletic program to CWU, its students, alumni, friends, and other citizens of Washington State. A successful athletic program is one which is competitive with other successful programs in the conference and the nation. Such level of competitiveness requires considerable financial support for athletic scholarships and related expenses. The Wildcat Club intends to help generate funds sufficient to achieve that goal, and has established this fund drive as its major annual fundraising effort.
The purpose for conducting this fund drive is to increase the amount of funds available for Wildcat athletic scholarships. This will be done in two ways: (1) by adding new members to the Wildcat Club, and (2) by increasing the size of contributions given by continuing members.
