Box Score ELLENSBURG, Wash (Sept. 13) – The Central Washington University women's soccer team earned their first win of the season defeating Dominican University of California 3-1, and in doing so, head coach 
Michael Farrand has won his 100
th career victory at the helm of the soccer team.
"It's just nice to get it done and over with," Head coach 
Michael Farrand said about the century mark. "There's been a lot of girls that have been around the program, and that have helped build this program, and they deserve just as much credit."
The win improves the Wildcats' record to 1-3 as the Penguins fall to 0-3.
The Wildcats struck first in the 36
th minute when freshman 
Viktoriya Vasina (Auburn, WA, Auburn Mountainview ) scored her first goal of the season. The goal was assisted by 
Meghan Ward (Chehalis, WA, W.F. West) and keeper 
Kayla Lipston (Federal Way, WA, Decatur).
Lipston had herself a day as she fended off 13 Penguin shots, six of those shots were on target. Lipston racked up five saves, as a lone Penguin shot found the back of the net.
The goal occurred in the 47
th minute when defender Peyton Jones snuck through the defense and scored.
Hadli Farrand (Ellensburg, WA, Ellensburg) put the Wildcats ahead for good in the 61
st minute when she broke through two tackles and beat the Penguin keeper.
"She is a great finisher," Farrand said. "She broke through the defense and 
Bailey Martoncik (Maple Valley, WA, Tahoma ) was able to find her for the go-ahead goal."
The Wildcats were able to tally 13 total shots with seven shots on goal. The offense also mustered three corner kicks on the day.
A late goal in 89
th minute by freshman 
Mackenzie Nolte (Marysville, WA, Marysville-Pilchuck ) gave the Wildcats added insurance in the win.
"This was a good tune up for us," Farrand explained. "We spent those last two games getting focused and to get ourselves back on track."
Central Washington University begins Great Northwest Athletic Conference play next week as archrival Western Washington University comes to town, Thursday, Sept. 18.
"We did a lot of things right together," Farrand said. "Today the girls played for each other, and I'm very proud."
