CWU Women's Soccer Drops Third Game of Young Season to CSUEB

Box Score ELLENSBURG, Wash (Sept. 11) – The Central Washington University women's soccer lost a close contest against Cal State University East Bay, falling 1-0.
 
The loss leaves the Wildcats at 0-3 overall on the season while the Pioneers move to 2-1.
 
The Wildcats started the game on the offensive as they earned the first corner kick of the match in the fifth minute. Emily Seelbach (Lake Tapps, WA, Auburn Riverside ) took the first of six CWU shots on goal in the seventh minute as the Wildcats looked to score early.
 
"We played a solid first half," Head coach Michael Farrand said. "We are beginning to get more comfortable with each other and develop better play."
 
Hadli Farrand (Ellensburg, WA, Ellensburg) and Mackenzie Nolte (Marysville, WA, Marysville-Pilchuck ) threatened the CSUEB keeper in the 12th and 14th minute with shots and eventual saves as the Wildcats thwarting the Wildcats' hopes of getting on the board.
 
The Wildcats found more offensive success with 13 total shots in the game, compared to the 10 total shot from thier two previous games. The Pioneers mustered 14 total shots and six shots on goal.
 
The Pioneers were able to beat keeper Kayla Lipston (Federal Way, WA, Decatur) in the 60th minute when CSUEB forward Megan Ravenscroft received a pass from teammate Laura McIntosh and scored the go-ahead goal.
 
"We played better in many ways," Farrand said. "But we need a sense of urgency, especially with league play right around the corner."
 
Central Washington will play one more game in Nampa, Idaho against Dominican University of California, Saturday, Sept. 13 at 11 a.m. The Wildcats open conference play the following week against archrival Western Washington University.
