LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Central Washington University volleyball assistant coach
Chloe Solum has been named a recipient of the 2013 Thirty Under 30 award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).
Solum, a 2008 graduate of North Dakota State University, just completed her fifth season as an assistant coach for the Wildcat volleyball program. She helped guide CWU back to the NCAA Division II tournament this past fall after a five-year absence.
“This is a great award that reflects the growth, accomplishments and influences on our sport that the young coaches in our country have had,” CWU head coach
Mario Andaya said. “Chloe is a major reason our program has achieved great success in the areas the NCAA Division II model strives for. Our program has demonstrated great balance with success on the court, in the classroom and in the community greatly due to what Chloe does each day.”
Solum, 28, joined the CWU coaching staff prior to the 2008 season after completing her playing eligibility at NDSU. A native of Mankato, Minn., she has worked directly with defensive specialists/liberos and with outside hitters. One of her former understudies, Brandie Vea, was a two-time honorable mention AVCA All-American.
The Thirty Under 30 award was established by the AVCA to honor thirty of the up-and-coming volleyball coaches 30 years old or younger in the sport at all levels of the game.
