Cook Named GNAC Co-Player of the Week

Junior Guard Helped Lead Wildcats to First-Ever Sweep of GNAC Schools in Alaska

SPOKANE (Feb. 16) -- Central Washington University junior guard JC Cook (Canby, Ore.) has been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference men's basketball co-Player of the Week. He shares this week's award with Nashorn Maynard of Alaska Fairbanks.

Cook scored 41 points in the Wildcats' two road victories in Alaska, helping Central complete a road sweep of Alaska Anchorage and Alaska Fairbanks for the first time in school history. Cook scored 22 points in Thursday's 89-77 win in Fairbanks, and then added 19 more in Saturday's 62-57 victory in Anchorage. Fourteen of his points in Anchorage came in the second half, helping the Wildcats finish off the sweep and avenge a home loss to the Seawolves earlier this season.

For the week, Cook made 16 of 30 field-goal attempts including 8 of 18 from three-point range. He also added seven rebounds and two steals while logging 60 minutes in the two games.

On the season, the former Clackamas Community College star leads the Wildcats and ranks eighth among the Great Northwest Athletic Conference leaders in scoring with an average of 15.0 points per game. He is also tied for ninth in the GNAC in three-pointers made.

Central Washington has won five of its last six games and is currently third in the GNAC standings with an 8-3 league record. The Wildcats are 14-7 overall heading into this Saturday's home game against Northwest Nazarene at Nicholson Pavilion at 7 p.m. Pacific Standard Time.
