ELLENSBURG (Feb. 17) -- Sixty-three current and former Central Washington University student-athletes have been named to the cross country and track & field all-decade teams for 2000-09.
The teams were selected by current CWU head coach
Kevin Adkisson, who has been involved with Wildcat cross country and track & field since 1992.
Twenty-eight current and former Wildcats were chosen to the all-decade cross country team, while 43 earned all-decade track and field honors. Included among the all-decade track and field performers were eight who were all-decade cross country team honorees and three others who had previously been named to the department's all-decade football team.
Two former Wildcats on the all-decade track and field team -- Alicen Maier and Katie Hummel -- were chosen in three women's events. That duo was also part of the all-decade cross country squad selected by Adkisson. All told, there were eight student-athletes selected in multiple track and field events.
Central Washington had a total of 21 NCAA Division II All-American honorees in track and field during the decade, including five-time All-American Cameron Neel in throwing events. Maier, 2009 indoor shot put national champion Krissy Tandle, Terran Legard, and Katie McMeel were all two-time All-Americans in track and field as well.
