GOALS BY VILLEGAS, HUTCHINS LEAD WILDCATS TO 2-0 WIN
Aggressive Central Outshoots Northwest Nazarene 13-2 En Route to Shutout Victory

ELLENSBURG (Oct. 10) -- Freshman Kelsy Villegas (Graham/Graham-Kapowsin HS) and junior Kaycie Hutchins (Port Orchard/Bellarmine Prep) each scored their third goal of the season, and senior Amber Easterbrook (Kent/Kentwood HS) needed to make just one save in posting her fourth shutout as the Central Washington women's soccer team blanked visiting Northwest Nazarene, 2-0, on Saturday morning.

Central improved to 5-7-1 overall and 2-3-1 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play, while Northwest Nazarene fell to 3-7-3 and 1-5-0.

Villegas netted her third tally of the season in the 14th minute, taking a pass from sophomore Serena Tomaso (Enumclaw) on a breakaway, beating Northwest Nazarene keeper Tanya Zickefoose to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead.

After just a one-goal halftime advantage, Central was able to score an insurance goal when Hutchins, the Wildcats' leading scorer on the season, scored from 15 yards out off an assist from junior defender Amanda Biggs (Carnation/Cedarcrest HS). The tally was Hutchins' third of the year.

At the other end of the field, Easterbrook and the CWU defense had a light day, holding Northwest Nazarene to just two shot attempts. Only a second-half attempt by Kim Bowen, which came just 36 seconds before Hutchins' goal, made it on goal against Easterbrook, who posted her 19th career shutout and the fourth of this season.

Central outshot NNU by a 13-2 count, had eight corner kicks to the Crusaders' three, and was whistled for 14 fouls to Northwest Nazarene's six. Hutchins (four shots) and Villegas (three) led the Wildcats' offensive flurry against Zickefoose, who made five saves in a losing cause for NNU.

The Wildcats continue their four-match home stand with a pair of matches next week. Central takes on rival Western Washington on Wednesday (Oct. 14) at 3 p.m. before rounding out their home stand with an 11 a.m. match against Saint Martin's next Saturday (Oct. 17).
